How Green is your Print?

We might live in the digital age, but the tactile and tangible results delivered by marketing in the 3D world means that printing is not going away any time soon.

However, whilst printing remains a cornerstone of many businesses marketing efforts, it’s important to take a holistic view of how the choices we make impact the environment around us.

At Pegasus Media & Logistics, we place a very high priority on reducing the impact our work – and therefore our clients – have on the environment, which is why we have committed to being Sydney’s premiere provider of sustainable printing services.

When you partner with a sustainable printer, you can feel good about the fact that your printing requirements are no longer costing the earth and will play a role in securing a better future for generations to come.

In this blog, we look at some of the reasons you should give greater consideration to environmental printing and playing your part in reduced wastage.

Why should you consider recycling?

Recycling and working with partners and providers who use recycled materials, is one of the simplest and most effective ways you can reduce the environmental impact of your business.

For example, last FY Pegasus Printing Group hit a massive 95% recyclability rate, an achievement which has seen our team save over 1275 tonnes of materials ending up in landfill.

To bring that number into perspective, this was the equivalent of:

  • Saving 4600 trees
  • 1,000,000 kilowatts of power
  • 447,000 litres of water
  • 223 tonnes of C02 commissions

Those numbers help to demonstrate just how big an impact the choice to recycle can create.

If that’s not enough to convince you, then consider the positive impacts that focusing on sustainability can have on your brand.

According to 2020 research, 77% of consumers claim that a brand’s sustainability practices help inform their purchasing decisions.

Research conducted in 2021 also shows that 47% of customers abandon companies that do not take a stance on sustainability, and 17% never return.

By taking a proactive stance on an issue like recycling and seeking out partners and providers who practice recycling – in particular, sustainable printers – you can help positively influence sentiment to your brand as well as making a positive impact on the planet.

Taking Action: How Pegasus makes sustainable printing happen

You’ve already seen the results that Pegasus’s sustainable printing practices have delivered.

So how do we make it happen?

How can you be sure that your sustainable printing partner – whether it be Pegasus or someone else – is actually practicing what they preach?

Seeking out the printer’s accreditation is a great way to check if your printers are as sustainable as they say they are.

At Pegasus, we boast not only FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®) accreditation, but we are also an accredited ISO 9001:2008 supplier, which ensures each step of our production process is aligned with world’s best practice to deliver the finest quality possible, all whilst using world-best sustainable practices.

If you are serious about reducing the environmental impact of your business, and your marketing, and you are looking at sustainable printing as a way to do that, it’s vital you check your printing partner has the credentials to show they’re not just paying lip service to sustainability.

We actively promote and use recycled products to contribute towards sustainability programs for ourselves and our clients. We are constantly researching materials and technology we can use to reduce our waste and become even more energy efficient. We even have reuse programs in place for our pallets and even damaged or unused pallets are recycled.
